Help with digital voice recorder?

I've tried recording things on an RCA digital voice recorder like the one found here: a href="http://www.adorama.com/images/large/RZVR5220.JPG" rel="nofollow"http://www.adorama.com/images/large/RZVR…/a However, I notice there is a LOT of "air" sound to the recordings... even if there is no ventilation or air conditioning running. How can I filter this unwanted sound while recording? Someone suggested putting the recorder in a sock... only one problem with that - I can't see the buttons or the screen lol So any better ideas? I'm all ears. Thanks!
