Do i need Y Splitters to film with my dazzle recorder?

I wanna film my ps3 gameplay with my dazzle recorder. I have the double ended RCA Cabels and the dazzle recorder. Aparently i NEED Y Splitters? Do i actually need them? Or can i set it up and use it without them?
